Why I Created Becoming Whole Coaching
By Lorna Owens
Lately, women have been asking me a question: “Lorna, do you offer coaching?”
The question has come as I have shared my books, spoken about wellness, and sat with women in conversation. And the more I have thought about it, the more I have recognized that this work brings together so much of what my life has been preparing me to do.
I know what it means to hurt. I know what it means to work through difficult experiences, to examine what you have been telling yourself, and to begin imagining that life might hold something different. The understanding I bring to this work comes from study and professional experience, but it also comes from living.
I have been through things. I have had to work through things. I am still growing, still learning, still becoming. And it gives me tremendous joy to walk alongside another woman as she begins to see possibilities for herself.
That is why I created Becoming Whole, my six-week private wholeness and wellness coaching experience for professional women.
Sometimes We Need Someone Beside Us
There are women carrying pain that the people around them never see. They go to work, meet their responsibilities, care for their families, and continue being the person everyone depends upon. Their competence is visible. Their struggle may be much harder to recognize.
Some want to make a change but cannot quite find a starting point. Others have an idea, a desire, or a possibility they keep talking themselves out of. Before they have taken a step, the familiar thoughts arrive: I am too old. I have waited too long. What would people think? What if I fail?
Sometimes those thoughts have been repeated for so many years that they begin to feel like facts.
I want to make room for a woman to examine them with kindness and honesty. What does she truly want? Which concerns need practical attention? Which expectations no longer belong to her? What small choice could help her begin?
We do not always need someone to tell us what to do. Sometimes we need someone who will listen carefully enough to help us hear ourselves.
I want to be that companion. A hand beside yours. A sister-friend who can offer warmth, perspective, and thoughtful questions—and help you follow through on the choices you make.
There may be something you have not felt ready to tell anyone else. In our conversations, you can begin where you feel comfortable, at your own pace. You do not have to arrive with a polished explanation or pretend that everything is fine.
Bringing My Life’s Work Together
My work has taken me from nursing and midwifery to law, from training healthcare leaders to speaking in more than 24 countries. Across those settings, I have encountered women with very different lives who share a deeply human desire: to be heard, to have choices, and to feel that their own lives matter.
My writing grows from that same concern.
Becoming Whole: Letters to the Woman I Am makes room for reflection on the experiences that shape us. The companion journal invites us to continue that conversation with ourselves. The Wellness Prescription for Women: The Art and Science of Flourishing, which I am writing, explores how we care for the bodies and lives through which we experience the world.
Coaching allows me to bring those threads into a personal conversation with you.
We can explore your values and boundaries alongside the everyday patterns of rest, nourishment, movement, and connection. We can talk about what gives you joy, what is asking too much of you, and what support would make change possible. Your circumstances matter. So do your hopes.
A Place to Begin
Over six weeks, we move through six invitations: See, Release, Remember, Choose, Flourish, and Become. Through conversation, guided journaling, and manageable actions, we turn what you discover into choices you can practice in ordinary life.
You do not have to change everything at once. You might begin with one honest conversation, one boundary, one moment of rest, or one possibility you are willing to consider again.
I cannot live your life for you, and I would never want to take that power away from you. But I can accompany you as you decide what comes next.
If you have been wanting something to change and wondering where to begin, I would be glad to talk with you. Becoming Whole begins with a complimentary 20-minute introductory conversation, where we can explore what you are seeking and whether working together feels right.
Bring your questions. Bring your hopes, even the ones you have barely allowed yourself to name. Bring a cup of tea, if you wish.
There is room here for you.
