Lunch with my Mentee and meeting a wonderful young Ghanaian Chef.
The Meeting .
Today, under the soft Ghanaian sun, something extraordinary happened — the kind of moment that lingers in the heart long after the plates are cleared and the hugs exchanged.
My mentee, Elizabeth ,a beautiful young woman with eyes full of light and determination, traveled two hours by road and public transportation just to meet me. She arrived at Joanne’s Café in Accra with elegance and grace.
We embraced, two souls linked not by blood, but by shared dreams and the quiet promise of guidance.
The café welcomed us with its earthy tones and woven wall art, its calm atmosphere cradling us like a sanctuary. We sat at a wooden table graced with a single potted plant and a menu folded like a quiet invitation to pause and savor.
We also met a delightful young chef, Chef Solomon. Thank you, Chef Solomon, for the fresh, delicious lunch.
We shared a soulful lunch:
A vibrant noodle bowl with tender chicken, peppers, and spring onions — warm and nourishing
A colorful salad bursting with beans, corn, tomatoes, and mushrooms — bold and alive.
And in between bites, we talked. About the journey. About courage. About the calling to serve, even when the road is long and the reward is not always seen.
We laughed. We reflected. We exchanged gifts. And in that sacred midday moment, I realized again what it means to pour into the next generation.
It was more than lunch.
It was legacy unfolding at a table in Accra.
